Random diagnosis

Hey all,
Make sure you are sitting down for this one...I went to the doctors today. I thought I had my very first case of poison ivy. I have been treating it all week with Benedryl cream and calamine lotion; neither has helped at all. If anything it had gotten worse. So I went to the doctors to see if I had some resistant kind of poison ivy. (And you all know how my mind works, I had even taken it to the extreme of skin cancer...LOL)
Well, I have shingles. Yep, I said shingles. If you know very little about it, here are a few facts. This is the same chicken pox virus I had when I was 8. It lies dormant in your spinal cord. Stress, or a weak immunity system is what usually triggers it. If you have had chicken pox, or the vaccine, you have no worries from me. The only way to transmit it is if you decide to rub up on it, and you have never had the vaccine or chicken pox. If this is the case, you would get chicken pox. It is not something transmitted through the air.
I am uncomfortable, ok it does hurt, but it isn't child labor. I will be on Valtrax, and a topical pain reliever.

Oh man. You know that usually old people get shingles...hehe. :) Actually, my grandma got it a few years ago and that same year my brother who was only about 22 had it too!!! Rest up. Let me know if I can help you out in any way!

Bless your heart- I've never heard of a person our age getting it, but hopefully the medicine will make you more comfortable and make it go away more quickly. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
